Carol Blackburn

Originally from Oakville and then later Ottawa, Carol moved to Toronto to attend The Ontario College of Art where she focused on fashion illustration which motivated her to change programs that resulted in her achieving a Diploma in Fashion Design & Merchandising from George Brown College. Years later she returned to school and attained an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design from Sheridan College.

Carol has spent the last 15 years working in Toronto as a Registered Interior Designer for several major design firms practicing her skills in corporate and residential design. In 2021, She received an ARIDO award on a residential renovation project where she worked in collaboration with a design team to provide construction drawings and select furniture and finishes. She recently moved to St. Catharines to be closer to family where she proudly joined the Critelli team.

Carol says she is not married to one design style but tends to lean toward Mid Century Modern for its emphasis on clean lines and forms, high quality natural materials and craftsmanship, comfort and functionality. She also loves the juxtaposition of combining old world architecture with classic Scandinavian inspired furniture. However, she says listening to the client is the most important aspect of the designer’s role helping them to interject their own style into the design and making their dream interior a reality.

Carol’s favourite TV personality Interior Designer is Johnathan Adler for his use of fun and quirky design elements. Her favourite fashion designer is the iconic classic Coco Chanel. With the ever changing world of fashion and design, Carol continues to stay abreast of current trends through webinars and social media while embracing the classics of the past.
